The only difference in this version compared to the Nintendo DS versions is that it is played in first-person view instead of third-person. That is, you can move freely around the map and different cities, you will have to manage your inventory, talk with other characters, and of course capture and train Pokemons. The game has the same mechanics as the original titles.

Even the cast of characters, including the professor and your rival, are totally new. The story is slightly darker than other games from the saga, and lets you discover so-far unexplored regions.
The storyline in Pokémon Uranium is also completely new and different from any of the previous games. In fact, the first three pokémon are completely new. All of them can be captured, leveled up, and of course, evolved. And in Uranium, not only do you find loads of well-known names, you also run into some new ones. The most important thing in any Pokémon game is just that: the pokémon. Taking the Nintendo DS games as its base, the game offers everything you'd expect from a good Pokémon release for Windows. Pokémon Uranium is a new unofficial installment in the Pokémon saga developed by a small team of fans over a period of almost 10 years – and it shows.
